Welcome to 1st Grade!
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year at Cactus Ranch Elementary. First grade is going to be an exciting year for your child. We will learn many new things, make mistakes and even get a little messy! My mission is to provide a safe and loving environment where every child has the opportunity to succeed.
GENERAL HOMEWORK INFORMATION
Please be sure your child completes all assigned homework. This is one step families can take to help build strong study skills at home. Parents are encouraged to support their children's efforts, however, please be sure your child does the work!
READING (daily)
Students are expected to read for 20 minutes a day, in addition to any other homework.
READING GROUP HOMEWORK (weekly)
Beginning in October, students will begin meeting with me in small groups during our Reading Time.
We will focus on learning reading and comprehension strategies. Your child will keep track of the books read each night on their reading log.
MATH FLASHBACK HOMEWORK (weekly)
Math Flashback Homework will be sent home each Friday. It will contain small daily assignments. Please have your child complete these assignments nightly, rather than all at once. These assignments are part of a campus-wide initiative to improve the retention of math concepts previously taught. They are designed to serve as a review. Please allow your child to complete these assignments independently, although you may need to read the directions.
*Math Flashback Homework will be due on Fridays!
